Way to go Tigers!

There was some good and some bad tonight in Tigerland.

First of all, I apologize to everyone for not posting some blogs about the weekend. It was very fun and crazy. I am still in recovery mode and have almost gathered myself together enough to share some of the stories and pictures.

Anyways, back to baseball.

Good news, the Tigers won 3-2. Also, Shawn Casey is coming to play. Also, the White Sox are losing in the 8th. Also, Placido Polanco made one of the hugest "Web Gem" catches, to save a run.

Bad news, Placido Polanco on said catch separated his shoulder and is out indefinately. In other bad news, Jeremy Bonderman pitched marvelously, only to get a no decision. He pitched 7 2/3 giving up 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, 8 K's, and 1 HR. He outdueled Curt Schilling.

Hopefully, the lull that occurred during the White Sox series is over, for good.

polanco should only be out for a short period... a separation isn't as bad as a dislocation. but aren't you excited about next weekend Jacob's Field!!!

btw, thanks for getting the hotel thats super cheap! and tickets were cheap too for first base foul line ($18)

future pt brooke,
separation is worse than a dislocation.

separation involves the ac joint and is due to ligamentous tears (grades 1-6), whereas a dislocation is the glenohumeral joint. and which way does a dislocation occur? anterior and inferior, unless you are a electrocuted or seize, then the ghj dislocates posteriorly.

you can certaily tear the labrum with a dislocation, which would make it more severe than a grade 1 or 2 separation, but generally a separation is worse.

he is out four to eight weeks, however, some omm and pt could have him back sooner. i would recommend sternal/clavicular treatments as well as shoulder rom activities.

i know you know the difference, but next time i quiz you on anatomy i'm gonna focus on more clinical applications....be prepared.
